The saw-shelled turtle is carnivorous, feeding mostly on fish, tadpoles, frogs and aquatic insects. It is also one of the few animals in Australia that have been known to successfully feed on the invasive and poisonous cane toad. Female saw-shelled turtles are significantly larger than males, however the males have a longer tail.
