Lone Pine is proudly the world’s first and largest koala sanctuary, originally established in 1927 as a safe refuge for sick, injured and orphaned koalas. Over the years, we have expanded our wildlife collection, and are now home to 100 koalas and 70 species of other native Australian animals.

Lone Pine is a sanctuary not just for our animals, but also our team members, visitors and extended community, with education, research and conservation at the forefront of all that we do.

Through collaboration with our 90+ employees, suppliers and customers, we aim to set a new standard in environmental wildlife management. This will contribute to building a stronger Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

About the Sanctuary

Maintenance Officer & Gardener – Casual 

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our sanctuary maintenance team on a casual basis for up to 38 hours per week.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Head of Department (HOD) Maintenance, the Maintenance Officer
& Gardener helps maintain, repair the sanctuary grounds, gardens and buildings. The role is to primarily ensure
all areas are maintained as per the instructions and guidelines of the Sanctuary Maintenance Department.

Experienced Casual Koala Keeper/Leaf Cutter

About the Position:

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (Brisbane, QLD) is currently seeking expressions of interest for our next awesome wildlife team member, within the koala department. The successful applicant will be employed as a Casual Koala Keeper/Leaf Cutter, approximately 38 hours a week, and report to the Head of Koalas, Wildlife Curator, and Wildlife Administrator of the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. 

The Wildlife and koala departments are fundamental to the ongoing success of Lone Pine’s wildlife section and our dedicated keeping team play the crucial role of helping our guest experience, understand, and engage with our wonderful animals. 

In addition to all responsibilities outlined in the Wildlife Officer job description, the key role of a leaf collector is to assist in maintaining the Lone Pine Koala population by supplying good quality, freshly harvested koala food leaf. The position of Leaf Collector reports directly to the Head of Plantations and Head of Koalas.

Sanctuary Cleaner – Casual 

About the Position:

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (Brisbane, QLD) is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our sanctuary Cleaning
Service team on a casual basis for up to 38 hours per week, on a casual basis. We would like to welcome someone who is enthusiastic about coming to work everyday and it is crucial that our new team member will take genuine pride in their role and duties.

The cleaning team are fundamental to the ongoing success and appearance of Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and they are key to helping our visitors experience a pleasant and enjoyable day. 

The sanctuary is open 7 days a week, therefore it is crucial that our cleaning services team members are available every day, including weekends and public holidays. We create rotational rosters to ensure fairness in the cleaning team.

Experience in the Tourism sector would be beneficial, however not essential.

Workplace Health and Safety Manager 

About the Position:

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (Brisbane, QLD) is currently looking for a Workplace Health and Safety Manager passionate about ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our staff and guests.This is a truly unique opportunity to combine your passion for conservation and wildlife with your expertise in developing and implementing effective health and safety programs.

The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs and policies to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The WHS Manager is a key role in our sanctuary, focusing on compliance and contemporary best practices.

 

Reporting to the General Manager, the WHS Manager will provide leadership, direction, training, expertise, development, and implementation of health & safety management programs to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary’s team members, visitors, and suppliers.The WHS Manager will also provide direction and support in managing compliance with all standards and government legislation, as it pertains to workplace health and safety.
