Get hands-on experience and discover what it’s really like to be a wildlife keeper at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

Our Student Placement Program offers a unique opportunity for tertiary students studying in the wildlife field to gain real-world experience working alongside our dedicated team. From husbandry tasks to enrichment and observation, students will learn about the daily care and conservation of Australian native wildlife.

Who We’re Looking For

If you’re passionate about animals, eager to learn, and ready to embrace the physical demands of a keeper’s day, this placement could be for you. We ask that our student applicants:

Are 18 years or older
Are currently enrolled in relevant tertiary studies (proof of enrolment required)
Have a high level of physical fitness and stamina
Are comfortable with physical tasks such as bending, lifting, twisting, and standing for long periods
Are responsible, reliable, and proactive
Work well both independently and in a team
Have strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
Can follow detailed written and verbal instructions
Are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Can safely navigate uneven ground and be exposed to dust, insects, and vegetation
Have regular access to email
