Accessibility

We have taken significant steps to improve accessibility across our facilities and services, ensuring that everyone can fully experience the sanctuary. This is our commitment to you, and we are always striving to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

Our Accessibility Features & Services

Wheelchair Access

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is set on naturally hilly terrain, which adds to its unique charm. However, not all slopes are easily navigable with unassisted wheelchairs. To support guests with limited mobility, we provide alternate routes, which are marked on our visitor map.

We also offer a limited number of manual wheelchairs for hire at our Ticket Entrance. A small maintenance fee of $6 applies, and guests will be asked to sign a liability waiver upon hire. To ensure availability, we recommend booking in advance by calling (07) 3378 1366 or emailing [email protected]

Assistance animals

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary welcomes certified guide, hearing, or assistance animals, ensuring that all visitors can enjoy our sanctuary. To maintain the safety and well being of our wildlife, we have specific guidelines for assistance animals:

  • Public Areas: Assistance animals are welcome in public spaces such as the Riverside Café and outdoor lawn without prior arrangements.
  • Sanctuary Grounds: Pre-booking is required to ensure the safety of both wildlife and assistance animals. Please contact (07) 3378 1366 or [email protected] to arrange your visit.

Guidelines for sanctuary visits:

  • Guests must provide valid paperwork, accreditation, or ID for their assistance animal.
  • Visits are guided by a Lone Pine team member and limited to 2 hours.
  • Assistance animals are restricted from certain wildlife zones to protect the animals in those areas.
  • For guests wishing to access restricted zones, assistance animals can be cared for in our air-conditioned wildlife hospital during the visit.

We are dedicated to ensuring your visit is both safe and enjoyable. Please contact us in advance to arrange your visit and let us know how we can best assist you.
